Talks & Workshops 2019
Gallery Talks
November, 2019: Artist's Talk - "Climate Joy: How Creativity and Climate Action can inspire joy and new ways of being."
I explored how composting influenced my work and my life, providing a metaphor for society and ourselves. The presentation considered why I would choose to compost my Harvard BA and my MBA from the University of Virginia.
October, 2019: Keynote - "Climate Joy: How Creativity and Climate Action can inspire joy and new ways of being."
I explored how composting influenced my work and my life, providing a metaphor for society and ourselves. The presentation considered why I would choose to compost my Harvard BA and my MBA from the University of Virginia. This was a private event for the gallery sponsors, Caldwell Law.
August, 2019: Gallery Talk - "Climate Joy: How Creativity and Climate Action can inspire joy and new ways of being."
I explored how composting influenced my work and my life, providing a metaphor for society and ourselves. The presentation included discussion of my two works in the AVA Summer Juried Show, Messages for the Future.
Workshops
October, 2019: "Waste & Our Material World."
A conversation with Marc Morgan about our material world. With sample random items from the local landfill, Marc and I discussed not just what can and can not be recycled, but also how we feel about these items in the first place. The question about waste and our material world has everything to do with who we are and what we value.
May, 2019 Celebrating Compost & Walt Whitman - - Who Knew?
In celebration of International Compost Awareness Week (May 5 - 11) and the
200th Anniversary of Whitman’s birth (May 30, 2019), these two gatherings included a reading of Whitman's poem "This Compost" (Time to Dig In!) and an inspirational talk (The Power of Us!) as well as the creation of a shared "Compost Collage" at each gathering.
